Our Beliefs

Our Problem...

God made the world, and us, and intended us to enjoy it and look after it, having a fulfilling and loving relationship with Him and others. He loves us and knows us better than we know ourselves. But we chose to trust our own ideas rather than His. This leads us to make mistakes and not live our lives as we should. God calls all that 'sin'. It is our sin that ruins our relationship with Him, with one another and with His creation.

God's Solution...

Turning our back on the God who loves us and created us is a very serious thing and deserves punishment. But because of His great love He sent His Son, Jesus, to this broken world to rescue us. Jesus lived a perfect life, then died in our place on a cross, paying the ultimate price for our sin; though innocent He took our deserved punishment on Himself. Because of this it became possible for us to get back to the right relationship with God that He always intended and is for our ultimate good.

Our Response...

We don't deserve God's great rescue plan for us through Christ and we can't earn it - no matter how "good" we try to be. Being a Christian means trusting in what Jesus has done for us on the cross, asking for forgiveness for going our own way and following Him daily as our Lord and Saviour - with the strength that He gives us by His Holy Spirit.

  Our History

The current church was built by the Stewart family in the early 1950's    as a place of worship for all Christians, regardless of denomination.

In 2001 the old Sunday School room was demolished and a new hall      built in it's place. At the same time a new kitchen was built, and then    the toilets were upgraded to include disabled facilities.

Whatever background you come from, and whether you have been a Christian for years or are just looking into Christianity you are assured of a very  warm welcome.

Stewartby Church services are normally held at 3pm on 1st  Sunday, and on the 3rd Sunday we have T@3 (tea at 3pm).

Stewartby United Church is here to serve the surrounding communities. If you have any questions please Contact Us.

WSC

Stewartby United Church is one of the four members of Wootton and Stewartby Churches (WSC), which also includes:

Baptist Church, Wootton
New Life Methodist Church,  Wootton
St Mary's Church of England, Wootton

WSC is a fellowship of those Christian churches in Wootton and Stewartby which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. Together, we seek to fulfil our common calling to proclaim the Gospel to the Glory of One God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Being a member of WSC enables the participating churches to promote Christian unity and joint service; witnessing to the community together, sharing in our common task of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus, and serving the people around us more effectively.

We hold occasional meetings together, have some joint services, run combined events and sometimes produce and distribute Christmas and Easter publicity.

Informal Links

We also have informal links with the church in Lidlington. We hold joint services with Lidlington when there is a 5th Sunday in the month and also work together in our common intent to share the gospel message.
